Letter Concerning the Militia, July 4th, 1814

 Cramahe 4th July 1814

 Sir,     I acknowledge the receipt of your letters dated the 25th and 26th. The 2nd instant the two men that deserted Captain Richards and Lieutenant  Keeler at the Carrying Place I hope will be soon in Kingston. Charles McArther I directed Captain Porter to send on as he belonged to his Company, Peter Sager went to Amiliasburg and I requested Captain Sager of Prince Edward to send him to Kingston, which he promised to do, if to be found and any that may be still behind I shall forward as soon as possible, or send other men in their places.    
Inclosed I send a Petition received from Captain Thomas Ward of the Northumberland Militia begging leave to resign his Captaincy in said Militia;   I beg you will have the goodness to lay it before His Honour the president, and let me know his pleasure in that respect. I have the honour to be Sir, your most obedient and humble servant Mo. Peters 1st
