March 26, 1810

From Captain Jones, Northumberland,   26 March 1810

To the Honorable A. Eneas Shaw, Adjutant General, York

 The Honorable A. Eneas Shaw

 Sir,

Your letter of the 21 instant having being presented to the Lieutenant Colonel who refused to receive it I took the liberty to open it as the Major had given in his resignation to the late Colonel Chisholm but I can give no Reason why the militia was not called out or returns made as I did not conceive it a Duty incumbent on me.

Sir, I have the Honour to be a Humble Servant

 Elias Jones, Captain Northumberland Militia
