Petition of Thomas Ward, June 30th, 1814
June 30th, 1814
To John Peters Esquire Lieutenant Colonel Commanding the first Regiment Northumberland Militia.
The petition of Thomas Ward, Captain in the said Regiment
Showeth That your petitioner’s place of residence being out of the limit of the Regiment In the County of Durham and nearly 25 miles from the company he commands makes it almost impossible for him to attend to his duty as Commander of his Company _ not only the great distance but his other appointments interfere very much with his duty in the Regiment. Your petitioner therefore prays that he may be allowed to resign his commission as a Captain in
the said Regiment.
And your petitioner as in duty bound will comply?.
